Miro’s solo exhibition “Needle, Daruma and Jacket” will be held at “Gallery Nikai,” an art space where records play quietly.
With “Japan and Jamaica” as its concept, this exhibition presents Miro’s unique worldview where their respective cultures intersect. Jamaica-themed Daruma works, along with record jacket works, will be on display.
Expression Delving into the Blue
In Miro’s work, what catches the eye is the presence of “blue.” This color, which runs through all of his pieces, is not merely a visual feature. For him, who says, “Expression is my identity,” “blue” is the trigger that allows him to enter into expression most naturally.
Without speaking excessively of emotion, he delves deeply into his inner self. Within that quiet concentration, the moment “when the mind becomes empty” appears. By continuously layering those moments that he feels are “the best,” his current style was built.
Stripping away unnecessary thoughts, works born within pure sensation give the viewer a margin to touch the art not through thought, but through sensation.

Japan and Jamaica: The Intersection
The concept for this exhibition is “Japan and Jamaica.”
At first glance, they are two distant cultures, but in the world of “blue” created by Miro, they connect quite naturally.
The “Daruma,” a Japanese symbol.
And the record, which symbolizes Jamaican culture.
They are presented not as a contrast, but rather as existing on the same rhythm. Here lies a new perspective that rises above cultural differences.
The character of the venue, “Gallery Nikai,” is also an important element of this exhibition. In a space that handles record needles—the gateway to sound—Miro presents a “visual jacket.”
The composition where sound and vision, tradition and culture intersect creates an experience unique to this space.

On the Occasion of the Exhibition
“Painting what I like.”
The expression that started from this simple motivation has now expanded into a realm that crosses cultures and resonates with the space.
What lies within the blue.
Please experience its depth at the venue.
